Chapter 1 to 3 is about the Indians fought other Indians because some Indians helped the British and other Indians helped the French. The French fought the British because they wanted America for France. The British Colonel Munro and his men were at Fort William Henry, and the Frenchman, Montcalm, and his men were near at fort. He ask for help from General Webb because he couldn’t fight Montcalm without more man and he also waited for his daughters, Cora and Alice. General Webb told Major Duncan Heyward to take the girls to their father. General Webb want Heyward to followed the Indians name Magua because he will show them way to go to Fort William. Heyward doesn’t know that Magua is an enemy. The 1500 men went by road, but Heyward and two young women followed Magua through the woods because it to dangerous through road. On the same day, two men sat in the woods next to the Hudson River and talk in the language of the Mohicans. The conversation is between the Mohicans Indians Chief, Chingachgook the sad story about he tribe. He said that the Dutch came here and gave his people fire-water and about his son die. The conversation between Chingachgook and Hewkeye ended when they heard a noise. Chingacgook see Uncas, the Chief’s, son and he ask about the Hurons. They are working for Montcalm and his men. After that the saw Heyward, Alice and Cora also Magua. Hawkeye looked at Magua and laughed because Magua is a Hurons and he is an ehemy. He wants Mohicalm’s men and the other Hurons to find them and kill then. Magua ran into the woods and Hewkeye shot him, but he didn’t kill him. Hawkeye wany to help Major Heyward. They take a canoe and pushed the canoe into the Hudson River. Then Hawkeye stopped the canoe and they out. The two Indians were there. Then they took Heyward, Cora and Alice into a cave. Suddenly, a Huron shouted loudly and angrily from the woods. Then it was quiet. They listened for a long time, but there were no more sounds. The girls went to sleep. But Hawkeye and the Mohicans didn’t sleep. They watched and listened.

I think the book is so easy to understand because it use simple words such as country, follow, drank, think, noise, chief and etc.
I also like the pictures in this book. It more helpful because it make me more understand the book writers, the whole story in this book, the chapters in this book, an incident that happen in this story and I can more imagine clearly about conversation and I also can know about the characters situation in this book.

I like this book because it has very interesting story such as the conversation between Chingchgook and Hewkeye. Chingachgook tell him about his tribe, The Dutch gave his people fire- water, his son was die and his son is the last Mohicans. I laso like this book because it has a history. I like the historical such as the story about British and French fight because they want to conquer North America and the story about the Indians tribe. The vocabulary in this story so easy such as knife, cave, wide, gun and etc to understand. So I can understand their plot. I also can comprehend the story line. It makes me understand about the story. Besides that, I can understand about the cultural. It give some exposure such as the eldest daughter Colonel Munro, Cora is a half breed. Half breed is not accepted by the black and white people because it look down.

The best character’s I like in this book is Uncas. Uncas is a daughter of Mohican Indian Chief, Chingachgook. He was a kind person and help Major Heyward, Cora and Alice and safe they life. Uncas is a young Mohican. He had strong arms and black eyes. He didn’t have much hair only a little on the top of his head. He is friendly and closed with Hawkeye the white man and will sacrifice is life to save Cora from Magua and Hayward from Huron. He also have a loving heart to Cora and will die because want to safe Cora. He die because Magua kill him and he is a last Mohicans.
