The stories in this book are about people and about ghosts. There are a lot of questions in the stories, but not many answers.Washington Irving (1783-1859) is a very famous American writer. He lived in New York, but later he worked in Europe for seventeen years. Then he went back to the United States and lived near the Hudson River.Rip was a famer, but he did't like working.He liked going to the bar in the town and talking to the men. They talked often, sometimes every day. The name of the bar was the King George.King George was the Britist king. and America was British then.Rip was in the mountains with his dog. There was a strange man these and Rip walked with him to a strange building. These were a lot of strange men near this building. They played a game, and they had many drinks. It was late, and Rip close is eyes.This morning, Rip opened is eyes and Rip was under a tree in the mountains.He come home and now twenty years ago.Finally Rip lived with his daughter and her family. Rip's son lived with them, but he didn't like working. He didn't work on the farm because he was old.

The book is very easy to understand because the vocabulary very easy to understand.I like the picture because the pictures is interesting. I like reading this book because the story is interesting is about ghost and one men is lazy to work. I like the characters Rip Van Winkle because he lazy to work, and parts i like is chapter 6 bacause he meet to daughter after twenty years and he wasn't unhappy about his wife dead.I think the book has not a message.
